Business Support Supervisor Location: Ashford, Kent Hours: 14 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday, 5:30pmβ9:00pm Contract: Initial 6 months, with the potential to extend Rate: Β£21.76 per hour umbrella We are recruiting a Business Support Supervisor to lead an evening administrative support team within a busy public-sector Port Health service. You will line-manage a team of Business Support Assistants, ensuring high standards of customer service, accurate financial and administrative processes, and effective handling of import-related documentation and payments.
Key responsibilities
- Supervising, supporting and allocating work to a team of six Business Support Assistants.
- Managing performance, delivering 1:1s and identifying training needs.
- Supporting customers and import agents with account set-up, payments and documentary checks.
- Creating jobs, checking import paperwork, applying charges and maintaining accurate records.
- Chasing customs agents for commercial documentation and ensuring it is uploaded correctly.
- Handling complex customer queries, complaints and requests for advice in line with procedures.
- Using Excel and internal systems to monitor accounts, enquiries and avoid duplication.
- Supporting Team Leaders and deputising when required.
- Reviewing and improving working practices to maintain output and customer-service standards.
We are looking for someone with proven customer-service and team-management experience, strong administration and IT skills, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Experience within local government, import/export, debt recovery or financial administration would be highly beneficial.
