We are currently working on behalf of a local authority client to recruit an experienced Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer on a 12-week temporary contract. This role sits within the Temporary Accommodation Service and focuses on carrying out regular visits to temporary accommodation properties to verify occupancy, ensure compliance with licence/tenancy conditions, and identify any safeguarding or property-related concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and unannounced visits to temporary accommodation properties
- Verify occupancy and ensure properties are being used appropriately
- Ensure residents understand and comply with licence or tenancy conditions
- Accurately record visit outcomes, occupancy status, and observations
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns or property condition issues
- Liaise with internal teams and accommodation providers to resolve issues
- Work in line with lone working policies and health & safety procedures
- Manage visit schedules and caseloads to meet performance targets
- Respond to enquiries and complaints within agreed timescales
- Work collaboratively with Temporary Accommodation, Relocation, Move-On and Lettings teams
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within temporary accommodation / homelessness services
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk identification
- Experience carrying out property visits or inspections
- Confident working independently and managing your own workload
- Excellent record keeping and report writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable households and partner agencies
- Knowledge of housing legislation and the Homelessness Code of Guidance (desirable)
