We are currently working with a West Midlands based local authority who are seeking experienced EHC Plan Writers to support high-performing SEND teams on a fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in EHCP drafting and SEN casework to contribute to meaningful outcomes for children and young people.
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for managing EHCP processes and producing high-quality, legally compliant Education, Health and Care Plans. This includes working across the full assessment cycle or supporting backlog reduction projects.
- Drafting and amending EHCPs in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Managing cases from referral through to final plan within statutory timelines
- Processing Annual Reviews, including complex and overdue cases
- Interpreting professional reports from education, health, and social care
- Producing clear, legally robust and person-centred provision
- Drafting formal, legislation-backed correspondence (including ‘no to assess’ / ‘no to issue’)
- Managing consultations with schools and handling placement decisions (Section I)
- Liaising with parents, schools, and multi-agency professionals
- Supporting mediation and resolving queries effectively
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as an EHC Plan Writer or SEN Caseworker within a UK local authority
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP legislation
- Experience managing caseloads and working to statutory deadlines
- Ability to interpret complex reports and produce high-quality plans
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
- Confident working independently in a remote environment
SYSTEM EXPERIENCE
- Experience with one or more of the following systems is highly desirable:
- Liquid Logic
- Synergy
- SharePoint
