Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Building Control Officer to join a Local Authority Building Control team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Building Inspector with strong technical knowledge to support the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial developments.
Overview of the Role
As a Senior Building Control Officer, you will undertake site inspections, plan assessments and statutory Building Control duties, ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation. You will manage a varied caseload, investigate dangerous structures and unauthorised works, mentor junior inspectors and support the Building Control Manager in maintaining service performance and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Carry out Building Control site inspections across residential and commercial developments.
- Assess building plans to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Investigate unauthorised works, dangerous structures and demolition notifications.
- Maintain registration with the Building Safety Regulator (or work towards the required Class 2F registration).
- Produce clear and accurate inspection records, reports and photographic evidence.
- Provide technical advice to architects, contractors, developers, members of the public and internal departments.
- Mentor and support junior Registered Building Inspectors.
- Assist with Building Safety Regulator reporting, KPIs and statutory returns.
- Support compliance with LABC Quality Management Systems and ISO9001 standards.
- Contribute to maintaining a high-performing, customer-focused Building Control service.
Requirements
- Registration with the Building Safety Regulator as a Registered Building Inspector (or ability to work towards Class 2F registration).
- Significant Building Control experience within a Local Authority or Approved Inspector environment.
- Strong working knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Act and associated legislation.
- Experience inspecting a wide range of residential and commercial construction projects.
- Excellent report writing, record keeping and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for site inspections.
- Ability to work independently whilst supporting and mentoring colleagues.
