Supervised Contact Support Worker
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Wigston (Leicester)

Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supervised Contact Support Worker to support children and families across Leicestershire. This role involves supervising and facilitating court-ordered family time between children and their parents or other significant family members. You will play a key role in ensuring that children are kept safe, their voices are heard, and positive family relationships are encouraged where appropriate.
This is a county-wide role, requiring flexibility to travel to different locations within Leicestershire.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support contact sessions between children, parents, and/or other family members in line with court orders and care plans.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times during contact.
  • Provide written, factual, and timely records of contact sessions, highlighting observations on interactions and any concerns.
  • Promote positive family relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Transport children to and from contact sessions, ensuring safe handovers.
  • Communicate effectively with social workers, colleagues, and other professionals involved in the child\'s care.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner, ensuring safeguarding is prioritised.
  • Contribute to team meetings and case discussions where required.
  • Escalate any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with council policy and procedures.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Previous experience of working with children and families, preferably within a social care, education, or support environment.
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating situations appropriately.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies, child protection procedures, and confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the impact of family breakdown, trauma, and separation on children.
  • Experience of keeping accurate written records and preparing reports.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective in difficult or emotional situations.
  • Good observational skills with the ability to record clear, factual, and unbiased notes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills, including time management and prioritisation.
  • A high level of resilience, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
  • Flexibility to travel across the county and adapt to changing demands.
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths - essential.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or equivalent - desirable.
  • Safeguarding training - desirable (or willingness to undertake).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle - essential.
Other Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check (required prior to starting the role).
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends if required.
