We are on the lookout for a skilled electrician to maintain, renew, and install street lighting, traffic signs, and signals across Leicestershire. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving electrical issues, and making sure everything runs smoothly, this could be the perfect role for you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Testing and diagnosing faults in street lighting, traffic signs, and building electrical systems.
- Keeping our equipment up and running; we like things working!
- Spotting and reporting electrical or structural issues before they become bigger problems.
- Installing and maintaining lighting and sign systems at ground and high levels.
- Electrical work in council buildings, including schools, hospitals, and depots, following IEE regulations.
- Erecting and removing signs and lighting columns when needed.
- Servicing, adjusting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment safely and efficiently.

Required Qualifications:
- New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) Operative Qualification
- City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 in Electrical Installation (BS 7671)
- 16th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations or higher
- AM1 Practical Exam (minimum)
- HEA/HERS Registration
- Valid Driving Licence
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong ability to take measurements and calculate quantities (areas, volumes, weights)
- Effective problem identification and resolution skills
- Proficiency in using technology such as personal computers, PDS, and mobile devices for work-related tasks
- Knowledge of Construction Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
