An independent specialist SEN school in Dudley is seeking an inspirational SENCO to join the senior team and drive outstanding outcomes for pupils with diverse needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and Speech Language and Communication Needs. You will champion inclusive practice, lead on assessment and provision, and work closely with teaching staff, therapists, families, and the local authority to ensure every young person progresses and thrives.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND and ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Oversee identification, assessment and review processes including EHCP coordination and annual reviews
  • Design and quality assure high impact interventions and personalised support plans
  • Coach and upskill teachers and support staff through mentoring, CPD and INSET delivery
  • Use data intelligently to monitor progress and close gaps for pupils with SEND
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies including local authorities and health partners
  • Contribute to safeguarding culture and whole school improvement as a core member of the senior team

About you

  • QTS is essential
  • National Award for SEN Coordination or close to completion
  • Deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and practical experience within SEMH focused settings
  • Credible leadership presence with excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Evidence of raising attainment and improving provision for pupils with SEND
  • Resilient, solutions focused and committed to the success of every child
