Are you an experienced social work professional ready to step into a leadership role within Children’s Social Care? Our client is seeking a dedicated Social Work Manager to lead and manage a team of social workers supporting vulnerable children. This is a fantastic contract opportunity for a driven and compassionate social work leader to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

About the Role

As a Social Work Manager, you will oversee the Children in Our Care team, supervising approximately 6 social workers who support children subject to Care Orders. Your role will involve providing leadership, guidance, and management to ensure the delivery of high-quality social work services. You will be instrumental in maintaining best practice, ensuring statutory compliance, and fostering a supportive environment for your team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of approximately 6 social workers within the Children in Our Care team
  • Provide professional guidance and support to team members, fostering development and best practices
  • Oversee case management to ensure timely and effective interventions for children subject to Care Orders
  • Monitor team performance and implement strategies to improve service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with local authority policies and statutory regulations
  • Liaise with external agencies, families, and other stakeholders to promote positive outcomes for children
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
  • Play an active role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children under your team’s care

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England
  • Proven experience managing or supervising a social care team, preferably within Children’s Social Care
  • Sound knowledge of child welfare legislation, safeguarding policies, and best practices
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and lead a team in a fast‑paced environment

Benefits & Pay

  • Competitive pay rate 36.61 LTD inclusive of holiday pay or 28.72 Paye excluding holiday pay
  • Contract length: 17 weeks, with potential for extension
