Job Advert: Social Work Assistant – Children’s Services (Stoke-on-Trent) We are currently recruiting for a Social Work Assistant to join the Children and Family Services team in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children, young people and their families by supporting qualified social workers and delivering meaningful, direct support. Key Responsibilities: Support the delivery of high-quality social work across a range of teams including Children’s Support and Safeguarding, Children with Disabilities, Fostering and Adoption, and more. Undertake direct work with children and families, including life story work, parenting support, and supervision of contact. Manage a range of statutory and non-statutory responsibilities including holding Child in Need (Section 17), Supervision Order and Special Guardianship Order cases. Coordinate and chair Child in Need meetings, support assessments, and maintain accurate case recordings. Work closely with families, carers and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children. Requirements: Experience of direct work with children and families. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant child protection legislation. Excellent communication and report-writing skills. A Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People’s Work or similar, or a willingness to work towards this. Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
