North Tyneside Council is seeking three experienced Advanced Practitioners to join our busy and committed Children’s Services teams. These are key practice leadership roles, supporting high-quality social work practice and positive outcomes for children and families. One post will be based within the Social Work Assessment Team, and two posts will be within our Safe and Supported Teams. You will work alongside Team Managers to provide expert professional guidance, mentoring, and oversight across complex statutory work, helping to ensure strong decision-making and consistent practice standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide practice leadership and professional support to social workers within your team.
- Support the management of complex cases, offering guidance on risk assessment, planning, and statutory thresholds.
- Undertake or support Child and Family Assessments, including Section 47 enquiries where required.
- Chair or contribute to multi-agency meetings, including strategy discussions, CIN meetings, and core groups.
- Support social workers with court work, including care proceedings, statements, and evidence.
- Quality assure assessments, plans, and reports to ensure high standards of practice.
- Work closely with Team Managers to support performance, improvement, and staff development.
- Promote effective multi-agency working to safeguard and support children and young people.
Requirements
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and are registered with Social Work England.
- Have substantial experience within frontline statutory children’s services, including assessment and safeguarding.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Children Act legislation, safeguarding thresholds, and court processes.
- Have experience of mentoring, coaching, or supporting less experienced practitioners.
- Possess excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills.
- Are committed to reflective practice and continuous service improvement.
