Job Advert – Service Managers | Central London Council Client: Central London Local Authority Job Title: Service Manager (Repairs & Maintenance) Location: Southwark / SE London – Site-Based with Hybrid Flexibility Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract Pay Rate: £34 PAYE – £40 per hour (Umbrella LTD) Start Date: ASAP About the Role: We’re recruiting for two experienced Service Managers / Repairs Supervisors to join the Housing Asset Management Team of a busy Central London borough. These roles will be responsible for leading and managing all reactive repairs and maintenance works across a designated geographical area. Each Service Manager will oversee 12–15 operatives, ensuring day-to-day and void works are delivered efficiently, to a high standard, and with a focus on resident satisfaction and value for money. Key Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of repairs and maintenance within your patch, managing a team of in-house operatives and external contractors Ensure works are completed on time and to the required standard through regular monitoring, support, and supervision Engage closely with planners, complaints teams, managers, and residents to resolve issues quickly and effectively Maintain high health and safety standards across all works, ensuring Fire Safety and CDM compliance Monitor performance, set individual and team targets, and support training and development Handle complex complaints, respond to enquiries, and provide detailed reports to senior leadership Support continuous improvement and identify ways to deliver better, faster, and more cost-effective servicesWhat We’re Looking For: Extensive experience managing a repairs service or responsive maintenance team Proven background managing operatives, contractors, and performance outcomes in a housing environment Ability to lead by example, motivate teams, and resolve complex housing issues Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation, Building Regulations, Fire Safety standards, and landlord obligations HNC or equivalent in Building Studies (or comparable experience) Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills Comfortable managing a fast-paced and high-demand caseload across a large geographical patch How to Apply: For more information or to apply, please contact: James Glover – (phone number removed) - (url removed)
