A client within the Public Sector based in Merseyside is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager (Schools Improvement Programme) to join their Education Capital Projects Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a schools and education projects environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead the development of the 2026 annual programme of primary school improvement projects, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, robust project management, and delivery planning in line with budgets and critical timescales.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Developing prioritisation methodology based on AMP data and building condition surveys for the 2026 programme.
• Producing Cabinet reports and recommendations to fit available/anticipated budgets.
• Managing term consultants to prepare design and tender packages.
• Putting in place the delivery programme for 2026 and managing project progress.
• Liaising with schools, dioceses, consultants, planners, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A built environment qualification (e.g. architect, technician, building services engineer, building surveyor).
• A recognised construction industry project management qualification (e.g. RICS).
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience delivering education projects within critical timescales.
• Understanding of public sector processes, DfE funding, and Building Bulletins.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £475 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £355 – £380 per day PAYE). Hybrid working arrangements apply with a minimum of 2–3 days per week in the Liverpool office.
