We are currently seeking an experienced SEND Casework Officer to join a North West Local Authority on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with strong knowledge of SEND processes and legislation to make a meaningful impact supporting children, young people, and families.
Key Details:
- £300 per day (umbrella)
- 7-hour working day / 35 hours per week
- Hybrid working – minimum 2 days per week on site
- Immediate start available
Key Responsibilities:
- Support schools, settings, services, and families in applying the graduated approach to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND
- Coordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND
- Manage Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans from assessment through to placement and review
- Monitor and review pupil progress against agreed outcomes
- Build strong working relationships with SENCos, headteachers, and education settings
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social Care, and Health services
- Ensure all statutory timescales are met in relation to EHC plans
- Place children, young people, and families at the centre of all planning and decision-making
- Attend annual reviews for vulnerable pupils (e.g. Looked After Children, those at risk of exclusion)
- Support inclusion within local maintained settings wherever possible
Person Specification:
- Recent experience working within an educational or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Casework Officer
- Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND legislation, including SENDIST regulations
- Experience managing statutory assessment and review processes
- Proven ability to facilitate review meetings effectively
- Experience working in partnership with multi-agency teams
- Strong experience engaging with parents and carers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint
