Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to join a well-established Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team within Adult Social Care in Trafford. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a borough-wide service that plays a vital role in ensuring individuals' legal rights are upheld under the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and DoLS legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Best Interest Assessments for DoLS applications within statutory timescales
  • Complete high-quality, evidence-based reports to support decision-making
  • Determine whether arrangements constitute a deprivation of liberty and if this is in the individual's best interests
  • Maintain effective communication with service users, families, and carers
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and care providers
  • Contribute to screening applications, auditing, and quality assurance processes
  • Undertake Part 8 reviews and support Court of Protection processes where required
  • Support the development of the service and provide guidance to managing authorities

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist
  • BIA qualification (valid and in date)
  • Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England)
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience
  • Experience completing DoLS assessments within a local authority setting
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Mental Capacity Act (2005)
    • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
    • Relevant case law and Court of Protection processes
  • Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload independently and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience with Liquidlogic or similar case management systems
