Our Local Authority client is seeking an experienced Highways Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major multi-million-pound highways construction scheme. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled project management professional with a strong background in highways infrastructure delivery to play a key role in delivering a high-profile project that will provide long-term benefits to local communities across West Sussex.
Working within the Council's highways delivery team, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of a significant construction project, ensuring that programme, budget, quality, and safety objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will manage project stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle, driving progress and ensuring effective governance and reporting arrangements are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of a major highways construction scheme from inception through to completion.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, risks, and resources.
- Oversee contractor performance and ensure works are delivered to the required standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare project reports and provide updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, issues, and change control processes.
- Maintain effective stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering highways construction projects.
- A strong track record of managing large-scale infrastructure schemes.
- Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Experience managing contractors and construction delivery programmes.
- Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and budget control.
- Knowledge of highways structures would be highly advantageous.
