A client within the Public Sector, based in Warwickshire, is currently recruiting for a Planning Policy Officer to join their Forward Planning Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a Local Authority planning policy environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to support the preparation, monitoring and implementation of statutory planning policy documents, ensuring compliance with national planning policy and contributing to the sustainable development of the Borough.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Assisting in the preparation of statutory planning policy documents, supplementary planning guidance and borough-wide studies
- Managing consultation processes, including liaison with external bodies and the public
- Preparing reports, draft documents and evidence for examinations, inquiries and committee meetings
- Advising Development Management colleagues and other internal stakeholders on planning policy interpretation
- Monitoring planning policies and maintaining awareness of changes in legislation and national guidance
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Planning or a related discipline
- Membership of MRTPI or working towards MRTPI status
- Proven experience of development plan preparation within a Local Planning Authority
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience representing a Local Authority at examinations, hearings or public inquiries
- Confidence using IT systems including GIS and Microsoft Office applications
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £24 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approx. £18 per hour PAYE).
