A client within the Public Sector based in North Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Forward Planning & Economic Development Manager to join their Forward Planning team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a planning and economic development environment.
The Role
The key purpose of this role is to lead and manage all aspects of forward planning and economic strategy, including plan preparation, policy input, conservation initiatives, and community engagement. You will oversee the Heritage & Conservation team and contribute to the strategic direction of the Division, supporting the Corporate Director of Place as required.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing and leading the preparation of the Local Development Framework, including development plan documents and supplementary planning documents.
- Leading the development and implementation of the Council’s economic strategy.
- Overseeing conservation and environmental initiatives within the borough.
- Engaging with local communities, businesses, and partner organisations to ensure consultation and collaboration are integral to planning and economic strategy.
- Advising elected members and providing professional input on planning policy, economic strategy, and development proposals.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- A relevant degree in planning, urban development, or a related field.
- Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Proven experience in forward planning and development plan preparation within a local authority.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Experience of economic development strategy and initiatives.
- Knowledge of conservation, heritage, and environmental planning.
- Ability to manage budgets and lead a team effectively.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £32 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
