An established Housing Association in Norfolk is looking to recruit a Senior Building Surveyor to join their Asset Management team on a permanent basis. This role will lead a team of surveyors delivering condition surveys, responsive repair inspections, and disrepair investigations across the organisation’s housing portfolio.

Overview of the roleThe Senior Disrepair Surveyor will oversee a team responsible for condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and responsive repairs inspections. The role will also support legal disrepair cases, ensuring accurate technical assessments and clear repair specifications to help resolve cases effectively.
You will work closely with the Asset Management team, contractors, and residents to ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high standard, while contributing to long-term asset planning and data accuracy across the housing stock.
Responsibilities- Lead, manage and develop a team of surveyors delivering inspections and condition surveys
- Oversee the delivery of the rolling stock condition survey programme
- Diagnose building defects including damp, mould, and structural issues
- Provide technical oversight of responsive repairs surveys and repair specifications
- Undertake inspections relating to housing disrepair cases and prepare schedules of works
- Ensure asset data is accurate and maintained to support long-term investment planning
- Carry out pre, in-progress and post inspections to ensure quality and compliance
- Liaise with tenants, contractors and internal teams to coordinate works and resolve issues
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure value for money
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, building regulations and housing legislation
- Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or similar
- Significant experience in residential surveying within social housing or a similar environment
- Strong knowledge of building construction, defects and repairs diagnostics
- Experience dealing with housing disrepair cases and property inspections
- Previous experience supervising or managing technical staff or surveyors
- Knowledge of housing compliance areas such as HHSRS, damp & mould, fire safety and asbestos
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with residents and contractors
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
