We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing fire safety solutions provider that is passionate about protecting people, property, and the environment.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a

Mechanical Suppression Technician to join their specialist fire protection team. This is a home-based position , with a company van provided, allowing you to travel directly to customer sites across Wales and the South West.

You'll occasionally visit the company's warehouse to collect parts and equipment required for scheduled works.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced suppression engineer or mechanically-minded technician looking to develop their career within the fire protection industry.

The Role

Reporting to the

Mechanical Department Manager , you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, testing, and servicing of fire suppression systems and associated life safety equipment.

The successful candidate will work across a variety of commercial and industrial environments, ensuring systems remain compliant, operational, and maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and service mechanical fire suppression systems, including gaseous and kitchen suppression systems.
  • Carry out inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs and component replacements where required.
  • Conduct fire extinguisher inspections and servicing.
  • Interpret technical drawings, system specifications, and installation plans.
  • Ensure all work complies with industry regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
  • Complete service reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior technicians where appropriate.

Essential

  • Experience working with gaseous and/or kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Experience with Ansul and/or Amerex suppression systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Wales, the South West, and occasionally nationwide.
  • Positive attitude with a desire to learn and develop.

Desirable

  • Experience in room integrity testing.
  • Fire extinguisher servicing experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications including Ansul R-102, Amerex Kitchen Systems, Fire Extinguisher qualifications, or similar.
