- Fire Extinguisher Technician to join their Mechanical Fire Protection team covering
South Wales and the South West .
This role is field-based and home-based , with engineers operating from home and attending customer sites directly. You'll have a fully equipped company van , with occasional visits to the company's warehouse to collect parts and replenish stock.
The Role
As a Fire Extinguisher Technician, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, installation and commissioning of portable fire extinguishers and associated fire protection equipment across a varied customer base.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced extinguisher engineer seeking long-term development, with structured training available in specialist systems including kitchen fire suppression, gaseous suppression, and dry risers.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, inspect and commission portable fire extinguishers to relevant industry standards.
- Install and maintain fire protection equipment at customer sites.
- Conduct customer surveys and identify opportunities for system improvements.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients.
- Complete service records, certification and compliance documentation accurately.
- Identify defective, obsolete or non-compliant equipment.
- Maintain van stock levels, tools and equipment.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain strong client relationships.
- Achieve productivity, service and quality targets.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and industry regulations.
Essential
- Previous experience servicing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
- Fire extinguisher servicing qualifications and/or relevant competency training.
- Good knowledge of BS 5306 standards.
- Experience working within a third-party certified fire protection business.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience with other fire protection systems.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to complete electronic service reports accurately.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Desire to progress into specialist suppression systems.
