About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Year 1 Teacher for a long-term position within a welcoming primary school in the Burnley / Nelson area. Starting mid-January 2027, this is an excellent opportunity for an established teacher looking for their next long-term teaching role within a supportive school environment. The successful candidate must have previous Year 1 teaching experience and a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will be confident in delivering engaging, creative and differentiated lessons, managing classroom behaviour effectively and ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 National Curriculum.
- Deliver effective phonics teaching and support early reading development.
- Teach core subjects, including English and Mathematics.
- Monitor, assess and track pupil progress.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
- Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other school staff.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience teaching Year 1.
- Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Experience delivering phonics and early reading sessions.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
