Assurance Assistant - 12-Week Contract
We are currently recruiting for an Assurance Assistant to join a well-established organisation in Manchester on a 12-week contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in information governance, GDPR, data protection, or compliance to support a busy Risk and Assurance team.
The Role
As an Assurance Assistant, you will work closely with the Risk & Assurance Manager and Data Protection Officer (DPO), helping to ensure the organisation remains compliant with GDPR and information governance requirements.
- Managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) from initial request through to completion.
- Collecting, collating and reviewing information from multiple departments to meet statutory deadlines.
- Redacting sensitive and third-party information in line with GDPR legislation.
- Supporting the investigation of data breaches and assisting with reporting and recommendations.
- Maintaining key information governance registers, including SAR, Data Breach, Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) and Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) registers.
- Assisting with Data Sharing Agreements and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
- Managing the DPO inbox and responding to internal data protection queries.
- Producing reports on data requests, breaches, trends and compliance activity.
- Supporting the maintenance of policies, procedures and governance documentation.
- Working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to promote best practice in information governance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- Experience working within data protection, information governance, compliance, assurance or a similar environment.
- A good understanding of GDPR and data protection legislation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
