We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Local Authority in Greater London for an experienced Senior Corporate Surveyor to join their Corporate Estates team. This is an excellent opportunity for an MRICS-qualified Chartered Surveyor with strong valuation and estate management experience to play a key role in managing one of London's largest and most diverse property portfolios.

You'll provide strategic property advice, lead complex valuation work, and support the delivery of the Council's Asset Management Strategy. As Senior Corporate Surveyor, you'll act as the lead technical specialist across a substantial corporate estate comprising 1,500+ assets, 600 leased properties, with a capital value of approximately £250 million and an annual rental income exceeding £4 million.

Working closely with the Head of Estates, you'll provide expert advice on valuations, estate management, asset rationalisation, and space optimisation while ensuring statutory compliance and delivering best value across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of RICS Red Book valuations including:
    • Right to Buy (RTB)
    • Asset acquisitions and disposals
    • Insurance reinstatement valuations
  • Provide professional advice on:
    • Landlord & tenant matters
    • Rent reviews
    • Lease renewals
    • Community asset transfers
  • Act as the Council's Intelligent Client, commissioning and managing external valuation consultants and ensuring technical quality and value for money.
  • Support the implementation of the Asset Management Strategy through:
    • Asset rationalisation
    • Estate optimisation
    • Space utilisation projects
  • Identify opportunities to reduce under-utilised space and maximise value from the corporate estate.
  • Carry out inspections across operational and community properties.
  • Prepare technical reports for senior management, Cabinet Members and stakeholders.
  • Manage complex property enquiries, including Member and FOI requests.
  • Mentor junior surveying staff and contribute to professional development within the team.

We're looking for an experienced Chartered Surveyor who can confidently operate at senior level within a large and complex property portfolio. You'll have:

  • MRICS (or FRICS) professional qualification
  • Degree in Real Estate, Estate Management, Surveying or related discipline
  • Extensive experience undertaking RICS Red Book valuations
  • Strong knowledge of Right to Buy legislation and statutory valuation requirements
  • Experience managing operational property portfolios
  • Excellent landlord & tenant knowledge
  • Experience commissioning and managing external property consultants
  • Strong report writing and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to provide clear technical advice to senior leadership and non-property professionals

Ideally you'll also have experience within a Local Authority or public sector environment and an understanding of political decision-making processes.
