A local authority is seeking an experienced SEND Transformation Lead to support a key period of change within its statutory SEND services. This role will focus on stabilising restructured teams and embedding improved ways of working to drive better outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
The Role
You will lead the implementation of a restructured Statutory SEND service, ensuring new structures, processes, and responsibilities are clearly embedded and effectively delivered in practice. This is a hands‑on transformation role requiring strong operational leadership, change management expertise, and a deep understanding of statutory SEND services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the embedding of restructured Statutory SEND teams, roles, and workflows
- Support teams through organisational change and new ways of working
- Review and improve SOPs, policies, and statutory SEND processes
- Strengthen EHCP quality assurance, consistency, and timeliness
- Use performance data to identify issues, drive accountability, and improve outcomes
- Provide expert guidance on complex EHCP and statutory casework
- Support collaboration across SEND services and partner agencies
- Contribute to wider SEND transformation and improvement programmes
About You
- Strong experience within statutory SEND services and EHCP processes
- Proven track record of leading or supporting service restructure or transformation
- Excellent understanding of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice
- Experience developing and embedding processes, policies, and QA frameworks
- Confident using data to drive performance and service improvement
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Able to lead teams through complex change environments
Desirable
- Experience within local authority SEND services
- Knowledge of Ofsted/CQC Area SEND inspections
- Experience with co‑production or service design with families and partners
- Project or programme management experience in public sector settings
