Service Care Solutions are looking for a Solicitor to join the Natural Resources, Forestry and Climate Change Branch within the Marine, Planning and Natural Resources Division. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a varied and high-profile workload in an area of significant Ministerial priority. The role is available on an interim basis to cover maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth legal advice on climate change and natural environment matters to officials, senior officials, and Ministers
- Assess legal risk and lawfulness, recommending strategies to manage or mitigate issues
- Advise on the exercise and scope of Ministers’ functions and duties in a fast-paced environment
- Draft legislation, including Scottish and UK Statutory Instruments
- Handle potential judicial review matters
Role Criteria:
- Solicitor or advocate entitled to practise in Scotland
- Strong legal analysis skills, considering multiple sources of information
- Ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively in a strategic and practical context
Contract: Interim until 1 June 2027 (around 12 months)
Work Arrangement: Full-time or part-time; Hybrid working with flexibility
Salary: Negotiable (open to candidate setting their own rate) Minimum £62,111+
