We are currently recruiting for an experienced Income Officer to join a Housing Association based in Islington. This is a key role focused on supporting residents to sustain their tenancies while maximising rental income across a diverse portfolio including general needs, leasehold and shared ownership tenures.
THE ROLE
The Income Officer will be responsible for managing a patch of 850 tenancies, ensuring income collection targets are met and supporting residents with effective arrears management. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a customer-focused, multi-tenure income collection service
- Managing arrears and credits in line with policy, including home visits and court action
- Supporting residents affected by welfare reform and maximising their income
- Completing income and expenditure forms to set up affordable repayment plans
- Representing the association at court and attending evictions where necessary
- Referring residents to internal outreach teams and external specialist agencies
- Collaborating with internal teams and partner agencies to deliver holistic support
THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for a housing professional with proven experience in income recovery within a social housing setting. You will need:
- At least 12 months’ experience of managing high-level rent arrears cases
- Experience working with general needs, leasehold, and shared ownership residents
- Practical knowledge of welfare benefits, DIY possession and debt recovery
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a matrix team structure
THE CONTRACT
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Length of Contract: 3 Month, potential for extension
Rate: £19.77 to £21.61 per hour (LTD) / £16.96 to £18.54 per hour (PAYE, inclusive of holiday)
