Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for an FMIT Investigator to support Cumbria Constabulary’s Force Major Investigation Team (FMIT). This role involves investigating major and complex crimes, including serious organised crime, historical abuse cases, homicides, and rape.
Location: Cumbria Police HQ
Rate: £21.98 per hour
Contract: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations under the direction of the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO)
- Gather, secure, and preserve evidence, ensuring a fair trial process
- Take witness and victim statements, including Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) interviews
- Conduct suspect interviews under caution, following PACE and national guidelines
- Undertake house-to-house inquiries, search team duties, and trace interview and eliminate (TIE) inquiries
- Maintain evidential continuity and perform the role of Exhibits Officer
- Review third-party material in line with Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA)
- Prepare casework reports for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
- Attend court proceedings as a witness when necessary
Requirements:
- Experience working as an accredited investigator on live investigations
- Strong knowledge of PACE 1984, CPIA 1996, RIPA, and National Crime Investigation standards
- HOLMES experience within a major incident team (desirable)
- Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) training (Modules 1-5) or equivalent (desirable)
- PIP 2 accreditation or previous CID Foundation training (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence with the ability to travel throughout the force area
