Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Probation Officer to join our team on a full-time contract basis in Huyton, Merseyside. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals in reducing reoffending and reintegrating into the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of individuals subject to probation supervision, ensuring compliance with court orders and licence conditions
- Conduct risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans
- Prepare high-quality pre-sentence reports and other court-related documentation
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including police, courts, social services, and community organisations
- Deliver structured interventions and rehabilitation programmes
- Monitor and review progress, taking enforcement action where necessary
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with organisational policies
Requirements:
- Qualified Probation Officer (e.g., DipHE Probation Studies, PQiP, or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing offender caseloads within a probation or criminal justice setting
- Strong understanding of risk assessment frameworks (e.g., OASys)
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting public protection
Desirable:
- Experience working within HM Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS)
- Knowledge of current criminal justice legislation and practices
