Pay: £28.63 ltd per hour (Umbrella pay rate) equivalent to £20.30 PAYE per hour

Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Probation Officer to join our team on a full-time contract basis in Huyton, Merseyside. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals in reducing reoffending and reintegrating into the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of individuals subject to probation supervision, ensuring compliance with court orders and licence conditions
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans
  • Prepare high-quality pre-sentence reports and other court-related documentation
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including police, courts, social services, and community organisations
  • Deliver structured interventions and rehabilitation programmes
  • Monitor and review progress, taking enforcement action where necessary
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with organisational policies

Requirements:

  • Qualified Probation Officer (e.g., DipHE Probation Studies, PQiP, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience managing offender caseloads within a probation or criminal justice setting
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment frameworks (e.g., OASys)
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting public protection

Desirable:

  • Experience working within HM Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS)
  • Knowledge of current criminal justice legislation and practices
