Service care solutions are recruiting an experienced HMRC Lawyer to join the HMRC Division within the Office of the Advocate General (OAG) – a rare opportunity to work on complex and high-profile litigation on behalf of HMRC in Scottish courts and tribunals.

The Role You’ll be part of a 9-person legal team.

  • Representation in courts and tribunals across Scotland – including the First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, Sheriff Court, Court of Session, and Supreme Court.
  • Advising on Scots law matters such as judicial remedies, court procedure, insolvency, and commercial law.
  • Handling litigation relating to VAT, excise duties, and national minimum wage enforcement.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven litigation experience, preferably in civil or administrative law.
  • Advocate or Solicitor admitted in Scotland and holding a valid practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Ability to deliver robust legal analysis from multiple data and legal sources.
  • Strong advocacy skills or a desire to build them – particularly in Scottish courts or tribunals.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Strong ability to manage a varied caseload under pressure and to tight deadlines
