Overview

A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is recruiting for a Highways Engineer to join their Capital Programme Division. This is a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis. ideal candidate will have experience of working within a local authority within a highways and infrastructure environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to drive the delivery of a range of highway projects, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory legislation, while leading a cost-effective highways consultancy service that delivers excellent outcomes for service users.

  • Delivering and managing highways projects through the full project lifecycle, ensuring quality and value for money.
  • Leading and motivating staff to deliver a high-performing, collaborative highways consultancy service.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, addressing issues, and driving efficiencies in service delivery.
  • Managing resources, budgets, and financial forecasts while maintaining transparent reporting.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Council at public meetings and consultations, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or MSc in a relevant engineering discipline with post-qualification experience.
  • Full membership of a relevant Institution with demonstrable experience.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Strong project and contract management experience within highways.
  • Financial management skills, including budget forecasting and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent the Council effectively.

Compensation

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £35 per hour PAYE).
