A client within the Public Sector based in North Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to join their Human Resources Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or multi‑disciplined public sector environment.
Role
Key purpose of the role:
- Provide a professional and effective Health and Safety support service, acting as the Council’s competent person for Health and Safety and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
- Provide professional health and safety advice to managers, staff and senior leadership.
- Undertake and manage risk assessments, including complex and specialist assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences, including RIDDOR reporting.
- Carry out inspections, audits and monitor compliance across council services.
Candidate
Essential qualifications:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Technical Member (Tech IOSH) of IOSH (or equivalent).
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport.
Beneficial skills:
- In‑depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, particularly within construction or housing environments.
- Experience of providing health and safety advice within a local authority or public sector setting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £35 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
