A client within the Public Sector based in County is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Adviser (Commercial & Schools) to join their Risk and Audit team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to assist the Health & Safety Senior Officer in providing advice and support on Health and Safety matters, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with occupational H&S legislation
  • Providing advice and support to schools in line with SLA agreements
  • Undertaking site inspections across Council buildings and educational settings
  • Supporting RIDDOR investigations and incident analysis
  • Monitoring H&S reporting systems and contributing to committee reports
  • Assisting with the development of policies, training plans, and improvement strategies
  • Liaising with Enforcement Authorities and Insurance Team on H&S cases

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g. SCQF Level 10 / RQF Level 6)
  • Certified Membership of IOSH

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Strong working knowledge of asbestos, legionella, gas safety, electrical, fire compliance
  • Experience working in or with local authorities and/or schools
  • Excellent communication skills, able to write clear reports and present findings

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering up to £27 per hour Umbrella Ltd Inside IR35. (approx. £21 per hour PAYE)
