A client within the Public Sector based in North East Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Principal Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control Service as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority building control environment.
Responsibilities
- Leading and supervising a team of operational Building Control Surveyors to ensure statutory compliance and service delivery
- Managing and overseeing major and complex building control projects, including high-risk buildings
- Inspecting deposited plans and undertaking site inspections in line with Building Regulations and statutory timeframes
- Leading enforcement action, investigations into dangerous structures, demolitions, and unauthorised works
- Providing expert technical advice, acting as an expert witness where required, and supporting corporate and regeneration projects
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- Corporate Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CABE)
- Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (or working towards the appropriate class under the BICoF framework)
Beneficial skills
- Extensive experience working within a Local Authority Building Control service
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
- Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, enforcement processes, and the Building Act 1984
Compensation
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approximately £35 per hour PAYE).
