Rate: £22.87 per hour (LTD)

Contract: Temporary – 12 weeks

Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

We are currently working on behalf of a local authority client to recruit an experienced Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer on a 12-week temporary contract. This role sits within the Temporary Accommodation Service and focuses on carrying out regular visits to temporary accommodation properties to verify occupancy, ensure compliance with licence/tenancy conditions, and identify any safeguarding or property-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out scheduled and unannounced visits to temporary accommodation properties
  • Verify occupancy and ensure properties are being used appropriately
  • Ensure residents understand and comply with licence or tenancy conditions
  • Accurately record visit outcomes, occupancy status, and observations
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns or property condition issues
  • Liaise with internal teams and accommodation providers to resolve issues
  • Work in line with lone working policies and health & safety procedures
  • Manage visit schedules and caseloads to meet performance targets
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints within agreed timescales
  • Work collaboratively with Temporary Accommodation, Relocation, Move-On and Lettings teams

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within temporary accommodation / homelessness services
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk identification
  • Experience carrying out property visits or inspections
  • Confident working independently and managing your own workload
  • Excellent record keeping and report writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable households and partner agencies
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and the Homelessness Code of Guidance (desirable)
