We are now seeking an experienced ADHD Specialist Independent Prescriber to join our expanding clinical team. In this role, you will provide safe, evidence-based prescribing for adults with ADHD, working within national guidance and internal clinical frameworks. You will collaborate closely with Consultant Psychiatrists and other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective titration, treatment, and ongoing management of ADHD patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based prescribing and titration in line with NICE guidelines and internal clinical standards.
  • Manage a defined caseload of adult ADHD patients throughout the initiation, titration, and maintenance phases.
  • Respond to patient queries through a secure digital platform, providing timely clinical input.
  • Complete End of Titration Reviews (EOTRs) and annual medication reviews.
  • Exercise independent prescribing rights, referring to senior clinicians when clinically appropriate.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and escalate safeguarding concerns when required.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records using digital systems.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision, and service governance activities.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, service improvement, and pathway development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

For Registered Nurses:

  • NMC registration (RMN or RN – Adult, Learning Disability, or Children’s) with relevant mental health experience.
  • V300 Independent & Supplementary Prescribing qualification.
  • Minimum one year’s post-prescribing experience within an ADHD service (NHS or private).
  • Experience in ADHD medication initiation, titration, and ongoing management.

For Pharmacists:

  • GPhC registration with Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • Minimum one year’s post-prescribing experience within an ADHD service (NHS or private).
  • Experience managing ADHD medication initiation, titration, and follow-up care.

Note: Secondary mental health service experience includes CMHTs, inpatient care, crisis teams, and other services requiring GP referrals.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Further training in mental health or neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Previous experience working in ADHD-specific services.
  • Familiarity with stimulant and non-stimulant ADHD medication management.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement processes.
  • Comfortable working in a digital healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and remote clinical delivery.
