Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Worcestershire for a Technical Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will support the maintenance of key accounting records, including fixed asset registers and statutory returns, while preparing final accounts for capital and treasury activities (including prudential indicators). The role also involves managing treasury functions and cash‑flow for both councils, alongside supervising Business Support Technician Apprentices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on treasury management activities, including cash‑flow monitoring, borrowing decisions, and investment of surplus funds.
  • Support the preparation of final accounts, including capital accounting and production of prudential indicators.
  • Maintain and update key financial records, including fixed asset and grants registers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Contribute to budget setting, financial planning, and statutory returns to central government.

Candidate Criteria

  • Fully or part‑qualified CCAB (or equivalent) or AAT qualified, with strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proven experience in local authority finance, including treasury management and cash‑flow forecasting.
  • Experience in budget preparation and financial/statistical reporting, ideally within a public sector setting.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex financial information.
