Job Title: Town Centre PSPO Enforcement Officer Location: Bolton Rate of Pay: £15.92 per hour Contract: 6-month initial contract (possible extension to 12 months and beyond) Hours: Full time – including some early evenings and occasional weekends About the Role Service Care Solutions are assisting a local authority in recruiting Public Space Protection Enforcement Officers to work on the front line tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB), promoting safer communities, and improving the town centre environment. You will work across Bolton, with a focus on our town centre, enforcing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and addressing environmental offences. Your role will be highly visible – engaging with the public, challenging inappropriate behaviour, and working with partners to create positive change. Key Responsibilities Detect, deter, and act on anti-social behaviour. Enforce PSPO regulations, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), preparing and serving notices, gathering evidence, and supporting legal action. Investigate complaints and incidents, preparing cases for prosecution where required. Maintain accurate records in a PACE notebook and electronic systems. Attend court as a witness when necessary. Provide information to deter anti-social behaviour and encourage responsible community behaviour. Liaise with other services, agencies, and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives. Support less experienced staff with operational matters. About the PSPO The Bolton Town Centre PSPO was introduced in 2019 to address behaviours detrimental to the local community and economy, including: Street drinking & intoxicating substances Begging & soliciting for money Anti-social behaviour Street peddling/trading without a licence Use of amplifiers, skateboards, scooters, and bicycles in restricted areas What We’re Looking For Understanding of anti-social behaviour legislation and its practical application. Knowledge of community issues and experience working in partnership with other agencies. Strong communication skills with the ability to handle conflict professionally. Previous experience working with the public. A full, clean driving licence. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Additional Information This role is subject to a DBS check. You must be willing to work some early evenings and occasional weekends.
