About the Role: Harrow Council is seeking an experienced EHC Plan Writer to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that children and young people with special educational needs receive high-quality, legally compliant Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for drafting new EHC Plans and amending existing plans following Annual Reviews, in line with current SEN legislation and statutory guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clear, accurate, and legally compliant EHC Plans based on professional advice and reports.
- Amend EHC Plans following Annual Review reports and recommendations.
- Interpret a range of professional reports from educational, health, and care providers to inform plan content.
- Work within statutory timescales and ensure high standards of plan quality.
- Use databases such as CAPITA ONE or similar systems to manage case records.
- Store and retrieve documentation via SharePoint or similar platforms.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in writing and amending EHC Plans.
- Strong knowledge of SEN legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex professional reports and translating them into well-structured EHC Plans.
- Familiarity with SEN casework processes, especially those related to Annual Reviews.
- Experience using CAPITA ONE or a comparable case management system.
- Competency in managing documentation using SharePoint or an equivalent platform.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
