We are currently recruiting for an External Contracts Manager on behalf of a leading Housing Association to support the delivery of planned works and compliance programmes across their housing stock portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced construction or property professional with a strong background in contract management, planned maintenance, and social housing compliance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing externally delivered planned works contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role will involve working closely with contractors, consultants, residents, and internal stakeholders across multiple geographical locations.
Responsibilities- Manage planned maintenance and cyclical works programmes across housing stock
- Specify, procure, and oversee external contractor-delivered works
- Prepare work packages and tender documentation
- Monitor contractor performance, quality, and compliance
- Ensure works comply with CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation
- Manage budgets, invoices, and financial reporting
- Carry out inspections and quality assurance checks on completed works
- Attend contractor progress meetings and manage project delivery
- Resolve customer complaints and maintain excellent resident satisfaction
- Ensure works are delivered in line with procurement and financial regulations
- Produce progress updates and reports for senior management
- Work collaboratively with internal operational and asset teams
- Experience managing planned works or compliance contracts within social housing
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management experience
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, asbestos regulations, and construction compliance
- Experience procuring and managing building contracts
- Good financial and commercial awareness
- Ability to manage multiple projects and programmes simultaneously
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- HNC/HND or equivalent in a building-related discipline preferred
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
