Location: Camden

Contract: Locum – Initial 3 months

Hours: 36 hours per week (shift pattern between 8am – 6pm)

Pay: £20.20 per hour (Umbrella) (£15.57 PAYE exclusive)

About the Role

Camden Council is currently recruiting Early Years Practitioners to join their childcare settings on an initial 3‑month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, multi‑disciplinary team delivering high‑quality early education and care to children from birth to 7 years, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality childcare and early education in a safe, stimulating environment
  • Support planning and delivery of engaging activities tailored to children's individual needs
  • Carry out observations, assessments, and maintain accurate developmental records
  • Promote children's learning, development, and wellbeing
  • Support children with additional needs, including implementing targeted interventions
  • Provide personal care including feeding, toileting, and hygiene
  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals

About You

  • Have experience working in an early years or nursery setting
  • Have a good understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Are confident in observing, assessing, and tracking children's development
  • Have a caring, proactive, and flexible approach
  • Can work effectively as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
