Service Care Legal are recruiting for an established and reputable law firm based in Lewisham is seeking an experienced Duty Solicitor to join its dynamic Criminal Law department. This is a key role, offering the opportunity to manage your own caseload while supporting and supervising a team of solicitors and caseworkers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality legal representation across a broad range of criminal matters.
  • Supervise and mentor criminal solicitors and caseworkers, including file reviews, appraisals, and ongoing training.
  • Ensure compliance with LAA, SRA, and internal standards, particularly around auditing and billing.
  • Keep the team updated with changes in criminal law, providing training as needed.
  • Approve files for billing and ensure chargeable time is properly recorded.

Person Specification:

  • A qualified Solicitor or CILEx qualified within a current practising certificate.
  • Accredited Duty Solicitor with valid LAA recognition.
  • Experience supervising criminal law casework and junior staff.
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedure.
  • Commitment to Legal Aid and high-quality legal service delivery.
