Job Title – Customer Accounts Officer
Location – Nuneaton, CV11
Contract – Temporary
Hours – Full-time (37 hours per week)
Salary – £20.25 LTD per hour
Role Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Customer Accounts Officer on behalf of our client in Nuneaton. The role is focused on maximising rental income, minimising rent arrears, and supporting tenants with their tenancy obligations. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of rent accounts, handling complex arrears cases, and providing a first-class customer service to tenants, many of whom may be vulnerable.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage a caseload of rent accounts, including current and former tenant arrears.
- Make decisions on escalation to court and represent the organisation at possession hearings and eviction appeals.
- Support tenants with low-level benefits advice, including Universal Credit, and refer complex cases to Financial Inclusion Officers.
- Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to secure income and provide tenancy support.
- Conduct interviews with tenants to negotiate payment arrangements.
- Take appropriate action to trace debtors and update records.
- Work collaboratively with Tenancy Management and ASB Officers to resolve wider tenancy issues.
Requirements
- Experience in delivering excellent customer service, particularly when dealing with difficult or vulnerable customers.
- Strong knowledge of rent arrears recovery processes.
- Good understanding of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and the wider welfare benefits system.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
- Ability to represent the organisation confidently in court.
- Access to a car and a valid driving licence.
