Southampton City Council is currently recruiting for a Contact Supervisor to join their Children’s Services team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and families during critical times, ensuring safe and meaningful contact arrangements.

Role Overview

As a Contact Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families, often in challenging or crisis situations. You will ensure that contact sessions between children and their parents or carers are safe, positive, and focused on the needs of the child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise contact sessions between children and family members
  • Ensure all interactions are safe, structured, and child-centred
  • Support children and families who may be experiencing crisis situations
  • Observe, record, and report on contact sessions accurately
  • Promote positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Work collaboratively with social workers and other professionals involved in the child’s care

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children and families, ideally within a social care or safeguarding environment
  • Strong understanding of child-centred practice and safeguarding principles
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Excellent observation, recording, and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (essential)
