About the Role: We are recruiting PIP Level 1 Accredited Police Staff Investigators to support British Transport Police in investigating volume and priority crimes across multiple UK locations. This is a vital, victim-focused role requiring strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a fast-paced policing environment. You will gather and assess evidence, interview victims, witnesses and suspects, complete risk assessments, and prepare file-ready casework to help bring offenders to justice. This is an office-based role located near major train stations—no remote working is available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, review and retain evidence from victims, witnesses, suspects, digital media and open-source material.
- Conduct interviews using approved PIP 1 interviewing techniques.
- Review CCTV and assist in suspect identification, including briefings and facial comparison.
- Collate intelligence, link offences and prepare intelligence packages.
- Complete victim risk and needs assessments and provide safeguarding support.
- Prepare case files and ensure full compliance with disclosure, PACE and CPIA requirements.
- Deliver proportionate and ethical investigative actions.
Essential skills and experience:
- PIP Level 1 Accreditation (College of Policing).
- Recent investigative experience (within the last 3–5 years).
- Strong working knowledge of PACE, CPIA, and investigative disclosure.
- Proven ability to complete case files and manage volume crime investigations.
- Experience interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects.
- Prior experience in police investigations, detective work or similar roles.
- Competence in CCTV analysis and intelligence collation.
- CPD in statement taking or investigative interviewing.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and work independently.
- Current CTC vetting is essential for immediate deployment.
