About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Business Support Officer to join Medway Council’s Education and SEND team on an interim basis. This is a key role within the Hub Inclusion Team, providing high-quality administrative and customer support to ensure the effective delivery of services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Important: This role requires a commitment to attend the office at Gun Wharf 3 days per week. Please only apply if you can meet this requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive administrative support across Hub Inclusion Team activities
- Act as the first point of contact, delivering excellent customer service
- Respond to calls and emails promptly, maintaining accurate records
- Communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
- Manage enquiries, including sensitive and confidential information
- Coordinate diaries, appointments, and scheduling
- Maintain databases and administrative systems in line with council processes
- Take accurate minutes and support SEND and partnership meetings
- Organise meetings, training sessions, and events end-to-end
- Prepare reports, documentation, and statutory returns
- Maintain accurate SEN pupil data in line with requirements
- Keep stakeholders informed with clear and up-to-date case information
- Gather feedback to support continuous service improvement
About You
- Proven experience in an administrative or business support role, ideally within a local authority or education/SEND setting
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
- Proficient in using databases and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
