Bromley (peripatetic across sites as required)

36 hours per week | Sunday–Thursday (non-negotiable)

£18 per hour (umbrella) (£13.91 PAYE an hour)

Initial 3-month contract (potential extension)

Bromley Council is seeking a dedicated Supervised Contact Worker to support safe, high-quality contact between children and their families across Contact Centres, Children & Family Centres, community settings, and occasionally family homes. This is a fixed-schedule role and applicants must be available Sunday–Thursday.

Working pattern:

  • Sunday: 8:48am – 5:00pm
  • Monday–Thursday: 9:48am – 6:00pm (Slight variations may occur in line with service need)

About the role

You will provide a consistent, child-centred service that supports positive family relationships while ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing at all times.

Key responsibilities

  • Observe and supervise contact between children and family members/friends
  • Identify and respond immediately to any harmful or abusive behaviour
  • Accurately observe, record and report on contact sessions to inform social workers and partner professionals
  • Set up and pack away contact environments appropriately
  • Build professional, supportive relationships with families, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Support a positive experience for children, young people and families throughout the contact process
  • Gather and share feedback to help shape and improve service delivery

Requirements

  • Ability to produce clear, accurate observational notes and reports
  • Experience in supervised contact, family support, or a related social care setting (desirable)
  • Strong safeguarding awareness and professional judgement
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites (primarily Penge)
