About the Role
We are seeking an experienced ADHD Nurse Prescriber to join a clinical team delivering high-quality assessment and treatment for individuals with ADHD. The role involves diagnosing ADHD, managing and reviewing medication, and ensuring care is delivered in line with NICE guidelines and best clinical practice. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, maintain accurate clinical records, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external services. Ongoing professional development and staying up to date with ADHD research are integral to this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive assessments for individuals presenting with suspected ADHD, diagnosing where appropriate, and clearly communicating outcomes to clients and, where relevant, their families.
- Producing detailed clinical reports outlining assessment findings and the clinical rationale for outcomes.
- Completing structured reviews for individuals with an existing ADHD diagnosis, providing holistic, patient-centred care that incorporates both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Initiating, titrating, and discontinuing ADHD medications (stimulant and non-stimulant) as clinically indicated.
- Managing a caseload of clients through the medication pathway, ensuring regular reviews in line with internal protocols and NICE guidelines.
- Generating prescriptions using appropriate prescribing formularies and monitoring treatment effectiveness, safety, and ongoing suitability.
- Maintaining clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation.
Person Specification
- Qualified Mental Health Nurse Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (V300).
- Current registration with the NMC and commitment to maintaining revalidation.
- Proven experience in the assessment and treatment of ADHD.
- Demonstrable professional experience, including managing complex or crisis situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to clinical governance and compliance, including maintaining all required professional registrations and documentation.
