Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Temporary Ground Maintenance Operative to join a busy Parks and Open Spaces team in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Gardener or Grounds Maintenance experience to contribute to the development and maintenance of high-quality outdoor spaces across the city.

Role Overview

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will support the delivery of a wide range of landscaping and grounds maintenance services. This includes both hard and soft landscaping, construction projects, and the upkeep of parks and public spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out landscaping and grounds maintenance duties to required standards and timescales
  • Undertake hard and soft landscaping projects in line with drawings and specifications
  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of outdoor sports areas (natural and artificial surfaces)
  • Support tree and shrub planting across highways and open spaces
  • Use hand tools and assist with construction-related tasks such as turf laying and concrete mixing
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
  • Assist with the safe application of chemicals in accordance with regulations
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and contribute to improving public spaces

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience in landscaping or the construction industry
  • Experience working on construction sites
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance
  • Practical skills such as planting, turf laying, and use of hand tools
  • Willingness to undertake job-related training

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 1 / City & Guilds in a construction-related subject
  • Experience operating construction machinery
  • Ability to read site plans and drawings
  • Full UK driving license
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
