Advisory Teacher Location: Haringey Council Contract: Initial 3 Months Hours: 36 hours per week Rate: £35 per hour (via Umbrella) – (£27 PAYE an hour) Haringey Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Advisory Teacher to join our dedicated team, working to improve the educational outcomes for Children in Care, Care Leavers, and Previously Looked After Children. About the Role As an Advisory Teacher, you will use your extensive knowledge of education and the care system to make a measurable difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. You will: Advise, support, and challenge school leaders, Designated Teachers, social workers, and college staff to identify and remove barriers to educational success. Develop and help implement strategies to improve attainment, progress, attendance, and engagement. Deliver high-quality training and support to foster carers, social workers, and education professionals. Ensure that statutory duties and best practice standards are consistently met.Key Responsibilities Lead on the educational progress and support of Children in Care, Care Leavers, and Previously Looked After Children. Apply strong knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN), exclusions, behaviour management, and intervention planning to influence and improve outcomes. Promote effective use of targeted interventions and enrichment programmes to meet a wide range of academic, emotional, and social needs. Use performance data and pupil voice to develop robust individual and group action plans. Foster cross-agency collaboration to ensure a joined-up and child-centred approach.About You You are a qualified teacher with a solid background in supporting vulnerable learners and raising achievement through advisory or inclusion-focused roles. You will have: A deep understanding of the education system, particularly regarding the statutory guidance around Children in Care. Proven experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, with the ability to influence and advise effectively. Expertise in SEN, exclusions, attendance, and behaviour support. A strong ability to design and deliver professional development for diverse audiences.
