Newport County Council are seeking to recruit an experienced social work assistant based in the Home First team within Adult’s services. You will manage a caseload of people, each requiring customised care and support plans. The role is a temporary, full-time position for an initial period of 3 months with a view to this being extended on a rolling basis and is offering a pay rate of £16.92 per hour.

The duties of this role will include:

  • To provide people with information and advice in relation to care and support and assistance in accessing care and support.
  • To explore options with individuals for meeting their care and support needs and to empower the individual to access early intervention and preventative services.
  • To respond to enquiries in an informative and knowledgeable way to enable people to better help themselves and others.
  • To undertake proportionate assessments of care and support needs when offering advice and assistance.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Experience of working within Health and Social Care
  • Experience of carrying out care and support assessments
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Be able to work upon own initiative and within a team
